Can I join Massage Associations with my qualification?

Various professional associations recognise our courses including Massage & Myotherapy Association Australia (formerly Australian Association of Massage Therapists (AAMT)), Association of Massage Therapists (AMT), Australian Natural Therapies Association (ANTA) & Massage Association of Australia (MAA) to name a few. The Certificate course qualifies you for membership at Massage Therapy level and the Diploma qualifies you for membership as a Remedial Massage Therapist. Completion of the Advanced Diploma qualifies you as a Myotherapist.

What experience do your teachers have?

All our teaching staff are the best qualified in the Industry. Trainers all have a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and are accredited adult educators. Our “hands on” trainers are the most highly recognised in the Industry, all with their own practices. Our Sports Massage trainers have worked internationally and nationally at the Olympics, Australian Tennis Open, World University games and other elite events.

Do I have to buy textbooks?

No – fortunately, our fees are fully inclusive, including your Anatomy textbook. You can, of course, purchase additional books from our bookshop that has a comprehensive range of anatomical and massage texts.

Do the fees have to be paid “up front”?

There are a number of payment options available and various forms of government funding to assist with your course including VET Student Loans. VET Student Loans is an Australian Government Loan scheme that is available to assist eligible students studying higher level vocational education and training (VET) qualifications to pay their tuition fees. VET Student Loans is available for the Diploma of Remedial Massage (HLT52015) only.

Skills First funding is also available subject to meeting the eligibility criteria and is available for the Certificate IV in Massage (HLT42015), Diploma of Remedial Massage (HLT52015) & Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy (22316VIC).

Please contact our Course Advisors who will be able to assist you with the various payment options and eligibility criteria for government funding.

I have qualifications from another organization/school/university. Can these count toward my massage course?

Yes – we have an active Recognition of Prior Learning policy. Generally, training at another organisation can count toward your Diploma of Remedial Massage or Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy. We will need to see all your qualifications, statement of attainment, workbooks and learning outcomes of the course that you studied to make a valued assessment.

Can I request a healthcare provider number with Medibank Private on completion of my Diploma of Remedial Massage with MIMT?

As you may be aware selected health funds have reassessed their provider eligibility criteria, for health fund registration for individual Remedial Massage practitioners.

As a result of the health fund reviews and reassessments a set minimum education requirement is the outcome. MIMT is one of a handful of colleges that has signed an assurance confirming that our Diploma of Remedial Massage course meets the required Medibank Private standards.

This means that you can apply for a provider number and it’s imperative you have this assurance when choosing a educational institution to undertake this course.

Does the Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy (22316VIC) follow on from the Diploma of Remedial Massage (HLT52015)?

Yes – our courses are created in a stepping stone fashion. First you would complete the Diploma of Remedial Massage and then move on to the Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy. After completing the Diploma you can continue your study in to the Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy.

Yes – Our courses are registered with Centrelink and you may be able to receive these government benefits. You will need to consult with Centrelink to ensure that you are eligible for these payments.

What is the workload like outside of the contact hours?

As part of the Health Sciences component of the course there are workbooks to complete. You are also required to complete external hours in our Student Clinic as well as external hours with sporting clubs and charity organisations. The Institute can also help you with contacting various organisations and the amount of hours you need to complete depends on which course you’re enrolled into. Please contact our Course Advisors who will be able to advise you further.

I want to become a Massage Therapist or Myotherapist – what do I have to do?

The Certificate IV in Massage is the initla qualification you require to become a professional massage therapist and you can either upskill to the Diploma of Remedial Massage or enter directly into the Remedial course if this is your desired outcome. This allows you to join massage associations and obtain professional insurance. You can work from home, clinics, mobile or even in the booming corporate massage sector. You can then continue studying and complete your Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy.

The pre requisite for the Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy is the Diploma of Remedial Massage.

Do I have to do an introduction course before commencing the Certificate IV in Massage or full Diploma of Remedial Massage?

Your first firm step in your new career path is to enrol in one of our Introduction to Massage intensive courses. This is the first subject in your Certificate & Diploma course, but also a very worthwhile stand-alone course.

You can enrol in the introduction classes as a short course without registering for the full Diploma course. This structure gives you two major advantages.

Firstly, it allows you to test the water before you make a full commitment to the Certificate IV in Massage or Diploma of Remedial Massage. The Introduction to Massage is deliberately structured so it is the foundation for the full Diploma course and is also a self-contained elementary course that will provide you with enough skills to give people the benefit of massage around the home or at the work place.

If you have any doubts about your choice of a career in Massage, then the introductory course is a must so you can test your aptitude for massage at low cost before you commit to the full Certificate or Diploma course.

The second advantage is this – taking this first Massage subject gives you a flying start on your Certificate & Diploma course and a new direction in life.

We ask students consider the” Introduction to Massage” course. The reason for this is that the “Introduction to Massage” course gives you the chance to experience the quality of our teaching and most of all the thrill of healing with your hands. You can determine your new career direction and take the first step at the same time.

The “Introduction to Massage” also course gives you the benefit of learning massage without committing to the Certificate IV or Diploma course.
