The Melbourne Institute of Massage & Myotherapy (MIMT) is delighted to announce that government-subsidised training, (Skills First, formerly the Victorian training guarantee), is now available for our Certificate, Diploma & Advanced Diploma courses (eligibility criteria apply).

Please find below a quick step by step guide which outlines the eligibility criteria. If you meet the criteria, you’re eligible for funding!

As a reminder, the following courses offered by the Melbourne Institute of Massage & Myotherapy (MIMT) are eligible for funding:

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be, an individual must meet Victorian Training Guarantee requirements as follows:

a/ An individual must be:

  • Australian citizen
  • Australian Permanent Resident (holder of a permanent visa)
  • Holder of a Special Category Visa (sub-class 444, New Zealand citizen)
  • Asylum seekers or Temporary Protection Visa Holder (relevant referral from required)
  • Automotive Supply Chain Initiative or Retrenched employees (relevant referral form required)

and

b/ An individual must enrol and commence training in a course or qualification provided by the RTO between the later of 1 January 2022 or when the VET Funding contract is executed, and 31 December 2022 inclusive and be:

  1. i)Under 20 years old(as at 1 January in the year of commencement of training) and seeking to enrol in nationally recognised training or;
    ii) Over 20 years old (as at 1 January in the year of commencement of training) and seeking to enrol in nationally recognised training; or

iii) Over 20 years of age (as at 1 January in the year of commencement of training) and seeking to enrol in nationally recognised training in a course that is at a higher qualification held at the time of the scheduled commencement of training.

  1. iv)An individual is eligible to commence a maxiumum of two government subsidised courses in a calendar year. Where an individual is enrolled in a course(s) that is scheduled to commence at a later date in that calendar year, this course(s) must be counted for the purpose of this clause when assessing eligibility.
  2. v) An individual is eligible to undertake a maxiumum of two government subsidised courses at any one time.

JobTrainer Funding

If you meet the JobTrainer eligibility criteria below, you may be eligible to receive a substantially subsidised training in the Certificate IV in Massage Therapy course.

What is JobTrainer?

If you are aged 17-24 or looking for work, you may be able to study a free or low-fee course through JobTrainer.

JobTrainer will fund around 300,000 additional training places that can help you learn skills for jobs in demand. You can choose from a range of accredited diplomas, certificates, and short courses in areas like health, aged and disability care, IT and trades.

As a reminder, the following courses offered by the Melbourne Institute of Massage & Myotherapy (MIMT) are eligible for Job Trainer funding:

Eligibility criteria for Job Trainer Funding

To be eligible for a JobTrainer place, you must meet the eligibility criteria below, as set out by the Department of Education and Training.

To be eligible, you will need to:

  • Live in Victoria
  • Be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or NZ Citizen

And

  • Be 17 to 24 Years of Age

Or

  • Over 24 and have one of the following:
  • Holds a current and valid Concession Card/Pension Card, etc
  • Has a separation Certificate from their employer
  • Has a letter from their employer stating that they have been made, or will be made redundant or retrenched.
